A relaxed, fun and informal way to learn about glass fusing, in a small class setting, with a very experienced tutor.
In this one day workshop, you will learn about how to cut glass, the tools used, different glass types and experiment with different techniques. We will use Bullseye glass, as well as choosing from frits, stringers and metal inclusions. You will be able to make a small panel (approx 23cm2), which may then be slumped in a mould in the glass kiln, in order to form a bowl, if chosen. If time permits, small additional items may be possible.
There will be a maximum of four students, to ensure personal attention.
The day starts at 10am with a coffee and a chat about what you hope to get out of the day, and then we will think about our designs and get started on cutting and assembling. There will be a break for lunch, after which the afternoon continues with more playing! Shortly before finishing at 3pm, we will have a break for a cup of tea and discuss your progress and achievements!
The cost for the one day course in £100 and a deposit of £50 will secure your place.
All materials – glass, paper, drawing tools etc are provided and included in the cost but hand tools and other studio equipment are provided on loan. Tools and extra glass etc will be available to purchase from the studio during the course if necessary. You are welcome to bring your own tools with you if you have them.
If you have any ideas/ sketches/images you are keen to use, please feel free to bring them to the class or call me to discuss prior to the course.
The courses are non residential. There are many great Bed and Breakfasts close by, as well as pubs with rooms and hotels (with or without Spas!).
